Rosalie Ruth Epps

Rosalie Ruth Epps was born 9/30/1938 to J Omer Kenagy and Mabel Bessie (Whigham) Kenagy. She passed away at the Memory Care Unit of Clearview Nursing Home in Mt Ayr Iowa on 10/22/2024.

When Rosalie (Rosi) was brought home after birth, she was welcomed by her brother Jim and sister Joan with the happy addition of baby sister Barb a few years later. The family made their home in the country outside Afton Iowa where Rosi had a terrific time riding her big old horse, Tony, and exploring the outdoors- usually under the watchful eye of mother. The family eventually moved into Afton where great times were had around the piano singing, listening to the radio and just enjoying family and friends.

Rosi met the person she would spend the rest of her life with, Virgil Allen Epps while living in Des Moines shortly after high school. They married on 11/15/1957 in a small ceremony. Rosi and Virgil raised children Michael Allen, Vicki Jo and Veronica Jean on East Seneca Street in Des Moines. They moved the family south to an acreage outside of the city of Decatur Iowa where they welcomed baby daughter Valeri Jayne. Rosi loved the land, the pond, the buildings- bugs and all -at the house that they called home for over 40 years. Rosi worked at O’Brien Brothers for many years before retiring to enjoy life. Virg and Rosi eventually moved into town, downsizing from 10 acres to 3 acres. Virgil built a wrap around deck where they spent many peaceful days watching the weather, the road and the neighbors.

Rosi passed away at the age of 86 at Clearview Nursing Home in Mt Ayr where she received kindness and care until her death. Rosi is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her brother Jim and sisters Joan and Barb as well as family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil and infant son Mark.

Services will be planned for a future date.
